The Future Scope of Artificial Intelligence
The future of artificial intelligence is an exciting one, to say the least. AI stands for artificial intelligence and refers to software which can be taught to behave in specific ways, in order to solve certain kinds of problems. In the past, we’ve seen this technology in action with search engines, autonomous cars and even Web spiders. More recently, it’s being used in computer games, self-driving trucks, and even virtual assistants.
What is Artificial Intelligence?
It’s a software a program that can achieve anything. However, there is still much to learn about the future of artificial intelligence, especially as it pertains to businesses and how they use it. Some say it already happens today, such as when Google’s self-driving car project was cancelled last year after a fatal accident, but Google Caffeine and Square are two companies just starting out.
Can artificial intelligence in the future replace all of the doctors, lawyers, stockbrokers and other professionals we currently employ?
Well, that depends on how you define “anyone”. It could help us with doing our jobs better, but it could also take over those tasks which we don’t particularly enjoy anyway, like driving. So can artificially intelligent computers replace all of the people we currently employ, although there’s a strong likelihood that it could help with the trucking industry? That depends on how the trucking companies define “all” and on how the software would interact with their current staff.
Will all AIs eventually be able to think and reason like humans, but only as well as cats or dogs can?
Well, that’s not very likely, if at all. As with any other animal, cats and dogs can reason and make plans, but they are far from being super-intelligent. Similarly, it’s not likely that artificial intelligence will be able to beat the world champion chess player, but it might be able to beat the amateur level players!
The future of artificial intelligence and machine learning looks very bright, and if you’re a venture capitalist looking for high-risk, high-reward investments you should be happy to know that there are plenty of opportunities to be had in the AI, NLP, and Machine Learning space. One of the hottest areas right now is in Internet marketing, because the Internet marketers are already using some form of these technologies and they are getting very good results. There are plenty of start-ups in the pipeline with deep pockets looking to build these systems, and you can expect them to keep growing and developing for quite some time.
But what’s the future of artificial intelligence, machine learning and other technologies mean for the average person? Well, they mean less work for everyone and a better quality of life for most folks. If you’re currently working in a job that uses computerized automation, then you’re not alone. Many jobs are now automated or computerized and most of us are just unaware of how much we’re losing to computers and automation. But the truth is that as long as the machines are around, we will have work to do – and we need to be prepared for that because it’s only going to get worse.
